A superb example from one of Europe's most historically significant salt mining localities, this specimen features well-developed cubic halite crystals displaying classic hopper growth — the characteristic stepped, skeletal faces that form as crystal edges and corners outpace interior face growth during rapid crystallization. The crystals are largely colorless to white with excellent vitreous luster and pleasing transparency.
A spray of fine acicular selenite crystals at the specimen's base adds elegant textural contrast, their silky luster complementing the bold cubic geometry of the halite. A mineralogically interesting combination piece from a celebrated Austrian locality with over a millennium of mining history.
